You can go in to MintMenu> Control Center> Monitors: now uncheck the box next to "same images in all monitors" Now click on the representation of your laptop screen and turn it off. I only open it to turn it on and close it before the bios finishes so that it displays on the external monitor. In my case my laptop remains closed sitting on my desk most of the time. I have a very similar set up, when my laptop's at home it's connected to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. Is there any way I can permanently disable the non-functioning laptop display and only use the external monitor? I checked in Monitor Preferences and I didn't see anything that would help. While on the login page, I have to hit Fn-F7 4 times in order for it to display only on the widescreen monitor and at the correct resolution. During bootup, the laptop display is detected and set to 1024x768 and the external monitor is set to that same resolution and is set to "mirror" the image on the laptop display.
I installed the Debian version of Mint.Įverything works well, except the external monitor. I have a laptop with a damaged display that I am using as a desktop with an external widescreen monitor.
